PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) is considered as one of the world’s highest performing engineering thermoplastics, offering exceptional chemical resistance and excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures.
Main applications of PEEK in additive manufacturing include metal-replacement, functional prototyping, and end-use parts for industries like aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, medical, dental and research.
PEEK Filament Features-
Extreme resistance against fatigue, heat and chemical wear
PEEK has a very high fatigue strength and makes it perfect for applications where wear resistance and self-lubricating properties are required, is able to withstand temperatures of up to 473 °F (245 °C) without permanent deformation and also able to withstand most organic solvents, acids and bases. This makes it suitable for environments with critical conditions such as Medicine, Naval, Oil & Gas.
Mechanical properties superior to other thermoplastic polymers make it an excellent replacement for other materials, even metals and steel.
70 percent less weight than most technical metals
It contains no known toxic chemicals, is a flame retardant (UL94 V0) and the PEEK material complies with FTS (flame, smoke, toxicity) levels.
Many medical device manufacturers now use implantable PEEK as a way to improve the biocompatibility of load-bearing implants. PEEK implants are much more bone-friendly and are also much more compatible with diagnostic imaging than metal implants.
